Blogging Tips 101 for Success.
Is it really easy beeing a blogger in 2018? It is not but, with the right guidance, tools and drive!!! It could become one of the best business, side hustle, money making machine for you and your family.
My story is fairly simple, i was looking for a avenue to share my ideas and knowledges to the world but was always hesitante to plunge onto the world of blogging. We see online, all those incredible success stories but i do know there is also the stories that are not talk about, the setbacks, deception, discourage.
I’m someone commited to my craft and that’s one of the reason i decided to create my blog, to share my voice to the world. There is a lot to do when starting a Blog, mine is up only since July 2018, i have a lot more to do and work on.
Before starting, the only thing i could say is: Don’t compare yourself to other bloggers, yes you could take advise, learn from their establish blogs but work on your own thing, you have a unique voice and should be proud of it.
I will explain below the simple tips to start a blog on the right foot, what to do and not to do… There is so much to consider but with a daily task in hand , it is a lot easier to follow the progress of your company : your Blog.
Let’s Begin.
I’m laying out a general overview on how to start your blog from scratch and at the same time, you will have the best blogging tips, i have under my umbrella.
Subject.
Start by looking for a subject that you are passionate about, you cannot stop talking about… Don’t forget once you have a blog in place, you need to have the motivation and drive to talk about the same subject over and over again. Imagine, working on your blog for the last year and you wake up one morning with no more drive for your blog because your motivation is dry, the subject need to be close to your heart.
Name.
Looking for a online name could be a little bit challenging when starting out because you could have the best idea in the world but keep in mind , your name should be relevant to the subject attach to your website. Having a online presence among others is quiet a task, so to have the chances on our side, why not have a name that is easily remembered and simple.
As a example: It took me a week to find the name for my website, since i wanted to talk about finances evendo my main work in life is computer engineering. Always been attracted by numbers, how to save money, how to make it work once invested, living a simple life so you have enough time for the family.
What is your drive, why do you have a blog in the first place? Share your knowledge, make money (we all want that i presume), it is liberating also to wright. It feel like a therapy, your feeding your blog with information so you have enough space to let new information flowing through your mind.
Logo.
Do you need to have a logo right away? My answer is a big no for now, you don’t have to put any energy in creating your logo, have more focus on the following steps. Yes , you could have a brainstorming session in order to know what your logo could look like. Visit your favorite search engine, google or Internet Explorer and visit some of your favorite blogs and see how they stuctured their websites, their logos.
Another important option is the themes: This is how your website will look like. We all have a feel on how we want our website to look among others.Again take a look around and see what you love. You could start with the generic theme from WordPress and once you are establish or have enough content ,you could switch to a theme of your choice.
Try to have a theme that is light, bright, articles a easily accessible, your menu is visible, disclaimer, terms, copyright link are actives and updated.
Registration.
To have a online presence, we need to have a registration with a hosting company that will take care of hosting the contents, keep our information safe. It is like purchasing a security box (safe), to have your articles protected but accessible when you need .
Wich company is reputable enough to have my website hosted?
BlueHost is by far one of the best company out there regarding website hosting.
NameCheap is the second on my list, really good.
(See at the end of my article, how to start your own Blog the right way…)
Content.
Some of you will read this article and say most of the stuff here, i already know but it is always a good reminder to see this information with open eyes. What we did 3 months ago, like me could be so different in a year.
I’m always going to be 100% with you my fellow readers.
If you know your subject from top to bottom, it should not be a problem to produce content, the problem could be related on, how to stucture the information in a way that is understandable by the mass. Use words that are easy to remember, relatable, put yourself in the shoes of your readers.
This is one major tip that i’m using for the blog. Once my article is written, i’m alwasy asking myself: Am i understanding the information, is it clear enough, should i organise it differently, add more info, remove phrases. Verify your information, if you have a reference to another article, list a copyright and link.
Little more…
- Read other blog for fresh ideas
- Watch TV on related topics to your expertise
- Wikipedia is a good source of reference
- Documentary (TV, netflix,online…)
Any sources of information is perfect.
Traffic.
This is by far the beast of all beast. How to get traffic to my website?
What is traffic in the first place: It is a way to have peoples, clients, customers to my website by using organic traffic, paid traffic, social media and more.
The major advice that i do and still do, to this day…. Focus on only one traffic channel at a time until you become the best of the best in it or have the success your looking for before moving to the next one.
There is so many channels that we could work with:
- Newspapers
- Infomercials
- Postcard mailing
- Emails
- Google Bing PPC (Pay per click)
- News Articles
- Guess Posts
- Yahoo Gemini (PPC)
- Tailwind
- Social media
- SEO’s
- So much more…
In my case, i decided to have all my energy onto Pinterest and Tailwind.
Pinterest: Why use this channel ? This is the main traffic channel for most of the bloggers of this world and the most profitable to my knowledge, if use properly.
Tailwind: This tool is amazing, it give you the option to share your content with tailwind tribes (comparable to group board on Pinterest) and also automate the distribution of your Pins on Pinterest.
How to work with Pinterest? There is so much to talk about, will have another post dedicated only to this subject.
My main advice when working with Pinterest is:
- Have a picture of yourself on your profile (look more professional and trusworthy)
- Organize the description of your profile (what you intend to offer to the readers)
- Group Boards (details description, have a main pin, seo related titles for each of your boards)
- Promote your profile to a business account to have access to more options (Analytics)
- Have good colorful Pins
- Observe other pins on Pinterest to give you ideas
- Have a good description and call to action
- Keywords and seo’s related terms for your subject
- Join group boards by invitation
My main advice when working with Tailwind is:
Get a free account for 30 days if you don’t have one –> Click Here
- Watch the main training video to get a feel on how to work with tailwind
- Join Tribes (group boards)
- Learn the auto scheduler
- One Pin per day for a particular post on a tribe is enough (system will alert you )
- Learn the draft option (column on the left under publisher)
- Share tribe members pins
You will have a greater chance to have your pins shared and saved. Be patient when learning tailwind, it could be tricky at first but once you are comfortable, it should be ok.
Time.
Take your time when applying any strategies you may learn along your journey, sometime you will hit the jackpot and have pins going viral ,sometime it will not happen. You could have your website showing on the first page of Google and your traffic will Jump at 500%, you never know how long it will take for your blog to generate some revenue. Just keep going at it.
Income.
We all want to make money out of our blog but again ,this should not be the main focus to start with. If the right intention is not there, the money will not follow but if you put the right energy for the readers, you will get paid in return.I do see some crazy reports from some of the fellow bloggers, really amazing if you ask me.
As a advise, read the blog of successful bloggers, what they do, how they do it, do they have a online courses, analyze their content to understand why peoples are coming to their blogs and not yours. What you could do differently on your blog to generate more income.
- Have a optin form
- Banner ads
- Free gift
- Better content
- Website layout
- Be part of a affiliate cie (Tailwind, MaxBounty, ShareaSale,Converkit, MailMunch…)
Success.
To have success, we need to work with the right tools and informations so we could have all the chances in the world to succeed. There is so much informations online, it is just overwhelming when you think about it.
To make it alive at the end: We need to have discipline but most importantly a support system around us.
Have some friends, family members, online bloggers who support you in your journey to become a online entrepreneur.Read-Watch motivational speakers to feed your mind with positive thinking to help you along the way ,when it is rough.
