Money may not make the world go round, but it certainly makes many things a little easier, so what if you could be taking home a little more, without the need to look for a new job? Here are a few things to consider.
Ask for a raise
This one may seem obvious, and yet millions of Americans are still missing out on earning more money in their current role simply because they are too afraid to ask for a raise. Companies want to make money and so many won’t offer you a raise, even if you deserve one, unless you actively come out and ask for it. What’s the worst that can happen? They say no? In which case, ask them what you can do to get a raise, have them put it in writing, and then take action to ensure you get one. When booking a meeting with your supervisor to ask for a raise, be sure to have a figure in mind and come to the meeting prepared with a list of reasons why you think you deserve to be paid more.
Upskill yourself
In the workplace, skills and knowledge are valuable assets to your employer and they will pay good money to keep a well-skilled and knowledgeable employee on, rather than lose them to a rival company. If your employer hasn’t already got training in place for you to grow, then upskill yourself by doing something such as taking a further education program with ABC Heart of America, enrolling on a course, or attending educational seminars. Upskilling yourself will not only make you better at your current role but will set you up for higher positions by demonstrating your self-motivation and commitment to your job. Once you have completed a training course or gained a new qualification, be sure to raise it with your employer who may be able to promote you or raise your salary to acknowledge your new skill level.
Start a side hustle
Side hustles are a great way to boost your income without needing to leave your current job and what’s more, many can stem from your hobbies meaning that you can have fun and make more money. There are so many ways in which you could make a little extra money in your spare time including things such as transcription work or translation, that can often be done from home in your spare time. Alternatively, if you have a particular skill such as being good at photography or making a certain kind of craft, then you could set up a side-hustle business, sharing your skills and selling your crafts for a profit. Never underestimate the power of a side-hustle income, and you never know, it could grow into a full-time far more lucrative business than your current job.
These are just three of the ways that you can take home a little more money without leaving your job – are you going to give any of them a try? (If you’re going to try one, then definitely ask for a raise).
PS Hope this was informational ?!
