All of us are looking ahead for the weekend, that we are busy or not. That we have a lot of money or just barely making enough to pass the week. One thing for sure is, we need time to decompress, to feel alive, to release the stress.
In our modern society, we work infinit hours per week, have just enough time to take care of us in regards:
- Sleeping (when we are abble to sleep)
- Cleaning the house
- Spending time with the family
- and more…
It could be such a terrible feeling, when thinking about the tasks that we don’t have time to do. Again, we need to have time for us and the family.
Why not, have a little fun challence around : how to do activities that are free or almost free over the weekend.
Seem to be easy when thinking about the process but in reality it is not , that’s why i did some research and will layout some of the best ways to have a frugal weekend.
This is the prefered one on the list because there is so much to do in a library.
- Watch movies
- Listen to music
- Play some instruments (depends on the library)
- Rent books, DVD’s, games…
- and more…
They have also story telling sessions for the kids, scheduled movie night, learning sessions for how to work with computers and many more fun activities to do. Take the time to explore around and see the possibilities to have a really good time. The best day to head over at the library would be on a sunday morning. Bring your blanket and your smile!
Zoo or Museum
Most of the time there is a once a month free entrance to go visit a zoo or a museum. Just nee to be on the lookup when they announce the days the access will be free. Depending on the season, if it’s not free, try to look for rebate, coupon that will allow you to save money.
When going at the end of the season, you will have all the chances in the world to save and enjoy your visit. Planning ahead for example: A family of four could cost you maybe 80$. Purchasing your ticket in advance will save 30-40% on the entrance and even more.
The challenge is not to spend any money, maybe go to a natural park around your area. There is more chances for you to see some of the beautiful species that you didn’t expect were close to you. Go for a tour and see!
Go for a long walk, instead of visiting around the city, why not go to a new location. Explore teh surrounding for new things to see and experiment. This is one of the best exercise your doctor could prescribe, whoever want to be in shape. At least to be healthy to start, bringing the kids and family members is even better.
This will give you the time to chat, learn, drink while walking and having fun. Don’t have to be for 5 hours, just 30 minutes to one hour is more than enough.

Yes, when the weather is not cooperative or you don’t feel like going out and don’t know what to do. Why not take a look at what the online streaming giant has to offer… Mr.Netflix, one of the modern age new streaming media that is taking over the world.
I never took the time to look around this streaming media and really look deeply on what they have to offer and let me tell you, i got a big surprise.
I’m not the type of person who will seat in front of the tv for 8 hours but when the weather is bad, why not. There is so much variety and choices, it is unbelievable to me. I was even watching Korean Tv series, of course subtitles until i learn the language:)
It is not free but i do believe a lot of household have access to this streaming giant and if you don’t have it! Why not save money and get Netflix to replace a portion of your cabling services.
When was the last time you went to the park? Just to play or just look around, seating on a bench and meditating. It is important to stop for a moment.
Freeze and tell yourself, let’s go to the park and if you have kids even better, they will love you for that. No kids, go out anyway and seat down somewhere and just relax. There is even a possibility, there could be a sport playground where to play tennis for free, baseball, basketball and more. Just need the essential and your on your way to have a great time.
If you love to play cards or board games, this is a great option to keep you busy and not going out to spend money.Just buying a deck of cards is around a dollar or two and from there the only limit is your imagination.
Not good at playing card or don’t know the games to play? No problem, head over a streaming media or search engine and look for: Card games to play.
You should have plenty of choices and by watching some videos, it should be easier to get the hang of it, prior to play the real game.
Classical board game is fun, it remind you when you were young on how you use to play before the technology took over. The new generation is actively connected on their electronic devices but you give them a chance to play with a board game, they will love it.Just be patient.
There is nothing wrong to play with electronic devices, it is a question of limiting the time played on those systems.

Don’t limit yourself, when looking for ways to have a good time and don’t want to spend money. It was really difficult at first not to spend any money while looking to do activities on a dime.
Always learn ,challenge yourself. In order to save money, have fun, be creative, do things you never tought doing, be aware of what you have.
Try something new this weekend and smile more.
