All leaders must display a range of virtues on any given day. From temperance to patience, to giving a strong vision, to setting an example to the rest of our staff. But integrity is rarely spoken of, because often it can seem impossible to improve yourself, no matter your practice, without leaving this vital virtue unscathed.
Compass
But as Edward Crisonino and his unwavering moral compass within all matters of family law proves, running a business with integrity is more than possible, provided you’re able to stay at the helm or projects, or firm, and reflect those values in your action. But just what is integrity made of, and how might we approximate the best results going forward? How can we use this virtue to define our action, not to subtract from it?
It’s worth asking this question, because sooner or later we will see significant effects on our reputation, success, and working opportunities. With the following advice, we’ll explore how allowing your leadership and integrity to complement one another can be a great idea for anyone serious about success:
Take It Slowly
We cannot expect ourselves to hold the best of virtue and insight simply because we wish it. It takes effort, dedication and the will to move forward to keeping our best practice alive to ensure this result is felt. For instance, leadership may be taking a staff member and properly curating their talent to help them shine as your second in command.
Integrity may mean taking the sacrifice to avoid ‘selling out’ and having your brand bought by a much larger business, or at least never diminishing your standards because this would increase your revenues due to mass-marketed appeal. It’s hard finding these virtues, but more than possible.
Develop It Firmly
Developing your leadership and integrity is a matter of strong effort, not of immediate choice. For this reason, we must build these virtues with deep foundations. This means learning to be a leader that listens, that can still take criticism if needed, or that learns from those around them.
A talent expressed by the best chefs is that they have to keep evolving and keep learning if they’re to remain at the top. This requires firm, secure roots, and the willingness to always be a student of their practice.
Keep Yourself Strong
Keep yourself strong. As a leader, we can only practice our best when we take care of ourselves. Burnout, stress, a lack of personal health, these things can combine to make it very hard for us to live appropriately, inkeeping with a leader’s ambition.
For this reason, you must do your best to model yourself appropriately, to keep your mind sharp, to deal with your aggravations. Proper sleep, a solid diet, exercise, reading to keep the brain sharp, these things accumulate to help us express the best of our talent day after day.
With this advice, we hope you can allow your leadership and integrity values to compliment one another daily.
